Jon Remitera, M.Div., is a pastor serving in the Kentucky-Tennessee Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He received a Bachelors in Theology from Southern Adventist University and a Masters in Divinity from the Andrews University Theological Seminary. Part of his pastoral duties is to counsel the people of God, and while his theological training helped him preach and teach the Gospel, he recognized that he needed more tools on how counsel people to find health and healing in Christ. He returned to Southern Adventist University where he received a Masters in Ministry in Biblical Counseling. It was through that masters program that he connected with ABIDE and found a community of professional counselors and coaches who shares his passion in helping others in their healing journey.
What do you like best about coaching?
What I like best about coaching is the journey. To see someone progress, grow, overcome, and embrace a healthier mindset and outlook in life is so very rewarding!
Why did you choose to do coaching?
1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us to encourage and build each other up. I see coaching as a way to encourage and build someone up to their God-given potential.
How do you recharge on your day off?
This sounds very cliche, but I do enjoy long walks on the beach and be immersed in the sound of the waves, the smell of the salty air, the feel of the ocean breeze on my face and the warm sand beneath my feet. I particularly enjoy watching the sun rise/set and just commune with God.
But when I don’t have an ocean nearby, turning of my phone, curling up on a coach, and reading a good book also helps me recharge!
What are your three favorite things?
A good meal
Walking with Jesus
