Marilyn Ravina graduated from Atlantic Union College with her BS in elementary education. As a tutor, teacher, mother, and wife she has learned to follow a simple country lifestyle. Her expertise includes an awareness of health issues especially ones related to celiac disease, gluten free cooking, Lyme disease, and autoimmune issues. She has often used natural remedies including specific herbs for treating herself and is aware of the benefits of their use.
She chose to become an Abide coach after participating in the Anxiety & Depression Relief workshop where she learned tools that have helped her and others toward perspective change and Christ-centered healing. After freely coaching friends, family members and students along her journey, she is now hoping to use her skills and compassion toward assisting others and improving lives.
What do you like best about coaching?
I enjoy the chance to meet new people and see them growing in their own experience with faith and knowing their purpose. I believe there can be significant results when we come together with a common goal or mindset towards healing.
Why did you choose to do coaching?
I chose coaching because a friend of mine kept telling me I would be good at it. She has often called me for support over the years and felt that I was spiritual, caring, genuine and authentic in the way I listened to her needs. I understand more in depth about depression, anxiety and how the mind affects the body. I have had to live with some chronic pain issues and continue learning how to cope with them.
How do you recharge on your day off?
On my day off I garden, cook, take walks or swim if the weather permits. I also like to Kayak.
What are your three favorite things?
My favorite things include working with kids, singing, and being creative. I identify with Maria from the Sound of Music! I want to be more courageous as I go into new situations and try to bring in hope, encourage faith and assure people that God is love. His plans for us are to prosper us and give us a future. The enemy may try to thwart this, but the battle for us was already won! I believe coaching is a way to generate or kindle that spark of hope in fighting the good fight of faith.
